CUMULATIVE AWARDS FOR DOGS:
Registry of Merit (ROM)
The FBDCA Board first approved a Registry of Merit on September 16, 2002.
This Registry has been designed to recognize those dogs and bitches who, by their genetic makeup and their use in a breeding program is improving the health of the French Bulldog breed, and is attempting to bring about greater conformance to the breed standard.
There is a multi-tiered set of awards for admission to the Registry of Merit. To be admitted to the Registry, the dog or bitch must be shown to be sound, healthy, and of breeding quality, in addition to achieving an AKC title or titles, including Conformation, Obedience, Agility, or other Performance Event.
Higher levels of ROM awards recognize not only the dog or bitch’s quality, but also their ability to pass these characteristics on to their progeny. There are four different levels of achievement, which are designated as Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. For full details on the program, click here.
Versatility of Merit Award (VOM)
This program was introduced in 2012. The purpose of the FBDCA Versatility Award is to recognize French Bulldogs who demonstrate soundness, trainability and athleticism. Adherence to the breed standard is encouraged (see “Conformation” category). These are dogs who are ambassadors for the breed, showing aptitude for skills which - although not traditional for our breed - are deserving of commendation by the club.
